The skills needed for design
Designing an open plan needs some skill. You can use templates to plan the space for freestanding furniture but you will also need some technical drawing skills and most definitely the use of a scale ruler. Making the best use of space ergonomically and for you personally cannot be underestimated. You can work with a survey done by others but it needs a detailed approach.
WE HAVE VIDEOS ON ALL THE SKILLS NEEDED TO HELP YOU COMPLETE THE DESIGN YOURSELF OR WORK WITH OTHER PROFESSIONALS TO FINALISE THE DETAILS AND OBTAIN THE COSTINGS.
If you have very specific bespoke ideas then you need to draw them out to scale to show to other professionals who can develop them further and detail them up so you know precisely what the costs involved will be and how it will look. Originality is so key to Open Plan Design as everything is on show and your decorative style needs to be seen in your layouts, fitted items and bespoke pieces eg staircases. It’s a marvellous way to achieve a very unique look and should be encouraged, but it is more time consuming and deserves special attention.
